Basra residents celebrate Iraq’s National Day
BASRA, October 4 — Basra residents celebrated Iraqi National Day on Tuesday with families and young people flocking to the Al-Ashar Corniche for various activities in celebration of the country’s independence from the British mandate.
Local Baha Hussein told 964: “Today is a historic day for Iraq, marking its independence and liberation from the British mandate on October 3, 1932. This day is considered a national day for the country, and we celebrate it annually because of its significance in our hearts.”
Hassan Ahmed shared: “We are joyful today on this important occasion in Iraq, which is Iraq’s independence and its joining of the League of Nations. Today, we see many young people and families celebrating, remembering the martyrs who defended Iraq.”
