Chinese workers in Nasiriyah celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival
NASIRIYAH, September 24 — Chinese employees working for the company building Nasiriyah’s international airport celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, on Sunday, donning traditional Chinese attire and preparing special mooncakes for the occasion.
The workers, employed by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), extended an invitation to a group of local children to participate in the celebration, also known as the Moon Festival, providing them with Chinese-themed costumes.
Frans Yes, one of the participants told 964: “We celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival annually, which is commonly referred to as the ‘Moon Festival.’ This festival holds great significance in Chinese culture, bringing us together to admire the moon and remember our relatives and friends. On this day, we make mooncakes, don ancient Chinese clothing, and showcase our culture, all in an effort to promote Chinese culture.”
