Missing for two days
17-year-old feared drowned after clothes found near Duhok’s Ava Shin River
DUHOK – A 17-year-old boy named Yousif Mustafa has been missing for two days after his clothes were discovered along the banks of the Ava Shin River in the Shiladze subdistrict of Amedi District. Rescue teams fear the teenager may have drowned.
Bawar Abdulaziz, a spokesman for the Duhok Civil Defense, confirmed that a diving team has been deployed to search the river where the boy’s belongings were found. “We suspect the boy may have drowned, as only his clothes have been found near the river,” Abdulaziz told 964media.
Local resident Ziyad Hussein, who knew Yousif, stated that the community has been searching for the boy for two days with no success. “We found his clothes before noon, but his body is still missing, and divers are continuing their search,” Hussein said.
The Shiladze area is known for its rugged terrain and fast-flowing rivers, making rescue efforts difficult. Residents remain hopeful, but concerns grow as more time passes without any sign of the teenager.
