New medical center in erbil offers specialized neurological and cardiac care

ERBIL – The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health inaugurated a specialized center at Jin Hospital for treating neurological disorders, strokes, heart attacks, early paralysis, brain hemorrhages, cerebral aneurysms, and heart artery replacements. The center offers advanced treatments without the need for skull or chest openings and addresses nerve issues in hands and feet.

The new facility, located in Erbil, features state-of-the-art equipment meeting global standards, local health officials say.

“With the opening of this center, neurological diseases, strokes, and heart attacks will be treated in Erbil, eliminating the need for patients to travel to Turkey or Jordan for treatment,” Dr. Zand Sorud, the center’s surgeon and director, told 964media. “This is the first time such a center has been opened in Kurdistan and Iraq. It is equipped with all the advanced devices in neurology and cardiology and many other fields.”

Although the center is private and located within Jin Hospital, the Ministry of Health supports it. Sorud mentioned ongoing communication with the Minister of Health to secure better government support and partial coverage of patient expenses.

While treatment costs at the center might be high compared to local standards, they are significantly cheaper than those in Jordan and Turkey. The center uses the same equipment and techniques and employs specialized doctors and staff.
