Nurse conducts workshop on wound stitching in Ramadi

RAMADI – A nurse at Ramadi Teaching Hospital organized a first aid and wound stitching workshop at Dream Land Hall in the Ramadi city center, Anbar, on Monday. Participants expressed enthusiasm for such training opportunities, citing a lack of skills to quickly respond to accidents.

Abdul Rahman Sami, the workshop organizer with over three years of nursing experience, told 964media, “The first aid workshop lasted over seven hours, including theoretical sessions and practical applications on models. All equipment was provided by the trainer, and participants were not required to bring anything.”

The workshop aimed to teach medical students and the general public how to handle wounds and the basics of stitching both simple and complex injuries. Topics covered included responding to fainting, strokes, burns, and various types of wounds.

More than 60 people participated in the workshop, which was advertised through media channels. The participation fee was 20,000 dinars ($15).

Participant Mohammed Majid said, “We lack knowledge on how to handle emergency health situations. I joined the workshop because it serves the community, as anyone could face an accident at any moment.”
“The workshop was a great learning experience; I learned a lot about dealing with and stitching wounds. I hope these workshops continue to reach more people across Anbar,” he added.
