Strategic road project to link Nineveh and Anbar

ANBAR – Anbar provincial administration plans to construct a strategic 134km highway connecting it to Nineveh province. Khalid Walid Al-Rawi, mayor of Anbar’s Rawah district, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the road will “serve economic, commercial, military, and security purposes.” Al-Rawi did not specify when construction will begin.

Al-Rawi highlighted several ongoing projects in Anbar, including initiatives in education, municipal services, water, and electricity. Among these projects is a 25-bed hospital nearing completion, expected to be operational by the end of the year. An 18-classroom school and an electricity rehabilitation project for villages under Rawah district’s jurisdiction are also in progress.

Al-Rawi emphasized that work continues on the 2024 projects in line with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s government program, which includes a comprehensive plan for village development, encompassing road paving, school construction, drinking water stations, and a power station.
