Armed man arrested after threatening to kill wife in Baghdad

BAGHDAD — Baghdad police arrested an armed man Friday in a sting operation before he could enter his home and potentially commit a crime. The arrest followed threats he made to his wife over the phone, vowing to kill her.

According to a statement from the Baghdad Rusafa Police, the operation was conducted under the supervision of the Chief of Baghdad Rusafa Police.

The statement, obtained by 964media, detailed that “units from the Baghdad Rusafa Emergency Regiment 2 apprehended the man, who was in possession of an unlicensed Kalashnikov rifle, within their area of responsibility.”

The suspect had intended to kill his wife due to a dispute, evidenced by his phone threats.

Police set up a sting operation and arrested the man before he could enter his house. He has been handed over to the police station in accordance with legal procedures.
