Nanakeli Hospital holds spring festival in Erbil to benefit cancer patients

ERBIL — Erbil’s Nanakeli Hospital held its Spring Festival on Monday, presenting a variety of activities with proceeds going to support the hospital.

Bzhar Anwar, the head of the Repak Organization, told 964media, “The festival includes affordable health screenings for diabetes and other conditions, with the money raised earmarked for [patients’] cancer treatment.”

Ismail As’ad, a cancer survivor and supervisor of the two-day event, shared, “The exact amount of money raised is not yet known, but as a cancer survivor myself, I oversee the festival, which includes a photo exhibition, food, book sales, and health screenings.”

Nergiz Hussein, also a cancer survivor, shared her intention behind writing a booklet about overcoming her illness: “I wrote my booklet for those who are newly diagnosed with cancer, discussing good moments to inspire hope in patients.”

According to Nanakeli Hospital , 200 cancer cases were recorded at the facility in 2023, with 50 more cases registered since the beginning of this year.
