Still far off fulfilling full payroll

Additional funds for KRG salaries ‘sent’ by federal government

ERBIL – The Finance Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government has requested 949.813 billion Iraqi dinars from Baghdad to cover February’s salaries, a statement said. An Iraqi Parliament Finance Committee member reported that the Iraqi Finance Ministry dispatched an additional 37 billion dinars for February’s salary allocation, although the KRG’s Finance Ministry has yet to confirm receipt.

Soran Omar, committee member, told 964media the Iraqi Finance Ministry issued an extra 37.123 billion dinars today for the February payroll.

A KRG Finance Ministry source indicated the transfer was processed but remains uncredited due to bank closures.

The Iraqi Finance Ministry initially transferred 566 billion dinars on March 11, 2024, for the February payroll. A subsequent transfer of 1.503 billion dinars occurred on March 19, 2024. With today’s allocation of 37.123 billion dinars, the total for February’s salaries from Baghdad has markedly increased.

This brings the KRG Finance Ministry’s available funds for salaries to over 604 billion dinars. The KRG awaits sufficient funds to meet the entire February payroll, including compensation for the Kurdistan Region’s security forces. The federal finance minister has reportedly demanded comprehensive lists of security personnel before releasing funds for Peshmerga and other local security forces.
