National Security Service arrests three suspected of extortion in Diwaniyah

DIWANIYAH — The National Security Service announced on Wednesday the arrest of three individuals in Diwaniyah for extortion, threatening to release personal photos of young women unless they received payment.

The NSS stated, “Under the ‘We’ve Got Your Back’ campaign to prevent digital extortion, based on reports in Diwaniyah, our teams captured three extortionists. These individuals demanded money from their victims, with one threatening a university student with the release of her photos unless she paid. Our teams set a trap and apprehended him red-handed, along with two others employing similar methods. They have been referred to the judicial authorities for legal action.”

The Service urged victims of similar crimes to contact them through official platforms to help combat this issue in accordance with the law.
