Arrest warrant executed for municipal officials in Anbar for embezzlement

ANBAR – Personnel from the Commission of Integrity in Anbar have apprehended a municipal official and three employees on charges of embezzlement.

The Government Media and Communication Office, said that an Anbar Investigation Office team was dispatched to the Habbaniyah Municipality Directorate.

Their mission was to investigate the misappropriation of funds intended for 249 contract holders between 2019 and 2021 and the wrongful distribution of Eid bonuses to 413 employees and contractors.

Investigations allegedly uncovered that the Director of Accounts at Habbaniyah Municipality, along with three accountants, improperly managed these funds.

The commission says that the signatures on the distribution records did not match those of the rightful recipients.

Consequently, a judge from the specialized integrity investigation court in Ramadi issued an arrest warrant for the officials involved, based on Article 315 of the Penal Code.
