Iraq’s counter-terrorism service arrests ‘ISIS financial chief’

BAGHDAD — The Counter-Terrorism Service said Tuesday it has detained an individual described as the financial administrative officer of ISIS, who allegedly entered Iraq using false travel documents. The CTS, in a statement to 964media, outlined the capture as the result of an extensive intelligence operation involving surveillance and tracking.

According to the CTS, “The Counter-Terrorism Service has apprehended the so-called financial administrative officer of ISIS gangs in Iraq through a high-quality intelligence effort that included surveillance and tracking operations.

“Our heroes managed to arrest the official of the Islamic State’s central organization after he entered Iraq with counterfeit travel documents and identification, intending to revive his terrorist activities within the country.”
