ERBIL — A women’s art exhibition featuring 64 female artists was held recently in Erbil, with Jina Khulqi, a university lecturer and daf player, among the attendees.

Originally from Eastern or Iranian Kurdistan, Khulqi discussed her experiences at the exhibition and her personal connection with the daf, highlighting the instrument’s soothing impact on her spirit.

As a daf instructor at Jihan University, Khulqi has been immersed in playing the daf for 12 years and has appeared in numerous festivals.

In an interview with 964media, she shared her enthusiasm for encouraging more women to explore art and music. “As an artist, it’s heartening to see an increased interest in art and music among women,” Khulqi remarked.

She also shared the reasons behind her choice of the daf, noting its calming effect on her soul, which she describes as vital nourishment for her well-being.
