Kurdistan region bids farewell to outgoing U.S. Consul General

ERBIL, August 16 — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) organized a farewell ceremony for outgoing U.S. Consul General, Irvin Hicks Jr., on Tuesday to mark the end of his mission in Erbil.

The event was attended by KRG Vice President Mr. Mustafa Qadir Mustafa, along with officials, diplomats, and other foreign representatives to the region. Mr. Fawzi Hariri, President of the Diwan, delivered a statement about the role of the U.S. Consul General in the Kurdistan region.

In his speech, Hariri highlighted Hicks’ work and efforts, describing him as a sincere friend of the Kurdish people who worked diligently to strengthen U.S.-Kurdistan relations. He noted that his efforts were valued by President Nechirvan Barzani and the KRG.

Hariri also expressed the KRG’s gratitude for the support and assistance of the United States to the region and wished Hicks success in his upcoming role.

Hicks shared his gratitude for the support of President Nechirvan Barzani and the KRG in organizing the ceremony. He stated that he considers himself a loyal friend of Kurdistan forever and emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity among political parties in the Kurdistan Region.
