Iraqi ministry of interior seeks to block nine video games

BAGHDAD — Ministry of Interior spokesperson Brigadier Muqdad Meery confirmed Wednesday that the ministry has reached out to the Media and Communications Authority and the Ministry of Communications to block nine video games. These games are believed by some to exacerbate societal and domestic violence, criminal motivations, and significant financial losses.

A statement from the ministry’s spokesperson, provided to 964media, explained the initiative:

Brigadier Muqdad Meery, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and the Security Media Cell, has initiated discussions with the Media and Communications Authority and the Ministry of Communications. The objective is to ban nine video games identified as contributing to increased societal and familial violence, fostering criminal motivations, and resulting in substantial financial waste due to their maintenance and updates. Intelligence agencies will target the promoters of these games.
