Remains of 41 Yazidis buried in four villages across Sinjar
SINJAR, January 24 – The remains of 41 Yazidis were buried in four villages of Sinjar district on Wednesday. The identified remains belonged to 20 people from Kocho village, 16 from Hardan village, three from Qne village, and two from the Khanasur community.
Hussein Qaidi, the head of an office dedicated to rescuing kidnapped Yazidis from ISIS, announced in a statement that the recovered bodies would be transported to the Yazidi martyrs’ monument, and after concluding religious rituals, they would be buried in cemeteries in their respective villages.
Over 6,000 Yazidis were abducted by ISIS fighters in Sinjar in 2014, with more than 2,000 Yazidis reported missing. Ongoing efforts have led to the discovery of 92 mass graves, 55 of which have been excavated, revealing a total of 242 victims.
