RANYA — The Directorate of Culture and Arts in Ranya, Sulaymaniyah, has established a youth-focused group named the Raparin Enlightenment Group, aimed at encouraging young people to embrace reading and cultural engagement.

Soma Hatem, a member of the group, told 964media, “Our message is centered on fostering a love for reading among the Kurdish individuals. We are dedicated to motivating youth to do so.”

The group’s activities extend beyond reading, encompassing various sectors of culture and the arts. Soma explained, “We aim to contribute to preserving historical heritage sites and engaging in all forms of artistic and literary endeavors, such as promoting music, and traditional folklore songs.”

One of the key initiatives involves hosting seminars highlighting the importance of reading, as well as preserving the nation’s literature and folklore. The group’s activities span across the entire administrative area of Raparin.

Soma added that the primary goal of the group is to create a bridge between readers and the broader community, inspiring more people to cultivate a reading habit. Membership in the group is open to all, and the group welcomes authors, cultural activists, and individuals eager to participate in raising awareness and promoting intellectual activities.
