Two sisters shot dead in family home, brother named as suspect

SULAYMANIYAH — Authorities are searching for a man suspected of killing his two sisters in their family home in the Bakrajo neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah late Tuesday night. The sisters, aged 22 and 19, were reportedly shot with a Kalashnikov rifle.

Sulaymaniyah police confirmed the deaths, which were reported by the victims’ parents earlier in the evening. Investigators believe the killings may have stemmed from a family dispute, with one of the sisters scheduled to be married the following day.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning. The suspect, identified as the victims’ brother, fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities have launched an search to apprehend him and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
