Yazidi man reunited with his family after years in ISIS captivity
ZAKHO, December 27 — A Yazidi man, who spent nearly a decade in the clutches of ISIS fighters, was freed and reunited with his family in Zakho on Tuesday.
Hussein Kuru, Director of the Office for the Rescue of Hostages, told 964 that the 19-year-old man had been abducted by ISIS fighters in 2014 at the tender age of nine.
“After nearly three months of relentless efforts, today marks the rescue of the young man, who was held captive with ISIS fighters located outside Iraq,” said Kuru.
The number of Yazidis rescued from ISIS captivity has now reached 3,576 people out of an estimated 6,417 kidnapped.
