Thunderstorms and heavy rain to intensify Thursday and Friday across Iraq
BAGHDAD — Unstable weather will continue across Iraq through the end of the week, with the General Authority for Meteorology forecasting intensifying rainfall and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday, particularly in eastern areas.
Thursday will be partly to fully cloudy with moderate rainfall that may turn heavy in scattered areas, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and active downdraft winds. Temperatures will rise slightly in central regions, dip in the north and remain stable in the south. Winds will be light to moderate at 10 to 20 km/h, shifting southeasterly overnight. Visibility will range between six and eight kilometers, dropping to two to four during heavy rainfall.
Friday will see continued cloud cover with moderate to heavy rain, again most intense in eastern areas, with thunderstorms and visibility ranging between three and five kilometers during rainfall.
