Iraq denies reports of Kuwaiti gunfire at Basra border point

BASRA — Iraq’s Interior Ministry denied Saturday reports circulating on social media and in some outlets alleging gunfire from the Kuwaiti side toward a border point in Basra, saying no such incident had been recorded.

“No incident of this kind was recorded within the sector of responsibility,” the ministry said, adding that “the situation along the border strip is proceeding normally and remains stable.” It warned it “reserves its legal right to take the necessary measures against those promoting false news that affects security and stability.
