First women’s gym in Basmayah residential complex nears completion

BAGHDAD, November 11 — Preparations are underway for the opening of Basmaiyah residential complex’s first women’s sports club, with new equipment arriving at the club’s headquarters.

Women in the complex will soon have the opportunity to engage in sports activities with complete freedom and privacy at the gender-segregated club.

Ali Mahmoud, a member of the Sports Activities Committee in Basmaiyah, shared, “The opening is very close, and the club will be very large, operating during both morning and evening hours for a total of 12 hours daily. It will be equipped with modern facilities and machinery from Italy and the United States. We expect it to receive wide acclaim from women in the complex.”

Ghania Abdullah, a resident of Basmaiyah, said, “The opening of this club will save us the effort of searching for a women’s sports club that meets our needs within the complex. We won’t have to go to clubs outside Basmaiyah.”

Nahar Raed, a sports enthusiast from Basmaiyah, shared her excitement, saying, “The club will provide a variety of modern sports equipment according to contemporary standards. It will be managed by a female team with experience and competence, and I am confident that there will be a significant level of interest in it.”
