Crowds participate in Tuwairij Run in Karbala

KARBALA, July 29 — The Tuwairij Run ceremony took place in Karbala Saturday afternoon, with crowds surging towards the Imam Hussein shrine at the peak of the Ashura day observances.

The annual event takes place after the midday prayer on the tenth day of Muharram, as millions of Iraqi, Arab, and foreign visitors participate, making their way towards the holy shrines in Karbala.
