Iraq’s port revenues top 1 trillion dinars through October, Transport Ministry says

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Ministry of Transport said Monday that revenue from the country’s ports exceeded 1 trillion dinars by the end of October, reflecting what officials described as stronger performance across commercial and oil facilities.

Farhan al-Fartousi, director general of the General Company for Ports of Iraq, said total revenue reached 1,063,291,000,000 dinars (about $759 million). He said the figure marks a rise driven by operational improvements and regulatory reforms introduced this year.

Al-Fartousi credited “the guidance and continued support of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis al-Saadawi,” and said the growth followed upgrades to maritime traffic management systems, tighter administrative and fee-collection controls, and improved procedures across handling, loading and berthing operations.

He said the results point to strengthened activity at both commercial and oil ports, with better performance indicators in marine services and logistics operations.
