Newlywed killed, partner critically injured in crash near Kalar
KALAR — A newlywed couple’s first visit to the bride’s family ended in tragedy Saturday evening when their car crashed on the road between Kalar and Khanaqin, killing the husband and leaving the wife in critical condition.
The couple had been married for only a week. The husband was from Khanaqin, and the wife from Kifri. They were traveling to visit her family when the accident occurred.
Jihad, the bride’s brother, told 964media, “I was waiting for them in Kalar. They never arrived, and I called more than 10 times. Later, a man answered and said they had been in a traffic accident.”
He said the husband had no brothers and only one sister. “My sister’s condition is not good, and she is still unconscious,” he said.
