Young man shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Dhi Qar’s Al-Shatrah district

NASIRIYAH — A young man from Nasiriyah was shot and killed Thursday in Al-Shatrah district of Dhi Qar Governorate after being attacked by unidentified gunmen, a security source told 964media.

The source said, “A young man from the city of Nasiriyah was subjected to direct gunfire in Al-Shatrah district in Dhi Qar Governorate.”

Preliminary information indicated that “unidentified gunmen traveling in a civilian vehicle of the Renault Fluence opened fire on the victim while he was ascending the Shoumli Bridge in the center of the district, resulting in his death at the scene,” the source said.

The victim was in a rented car at the time of the attack, which has been seized for investigation. “The body was transferred to the forensic medicine department in Nasiriyah,” the source added. “Our security patrols have begun search and investigation procedures to identify those responsible and determine the motives behind the incident.”
