Iraqi Airways launches direct Najaf–Lahore route
NAJAF – Iraq’s Ministry of Transport announced Thursday the launch of a new direct flight route from Najaf International Airport to Lahore, Pakistan, with flights scheduled twice a week.
“In line with the directives of Minister of Transport Razzaq Muheibis al-Saadawi to expand the network of national carrier destinations, Iraqi Airways announces the inauguration of its new international route from Najaf International Airport to Lahore International Airport in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the ministry said in a statement.
Manaf Abdul-Munim Ajil, general manager of Iraqi Airways, said the route will begin operating on Thursday, October 9, with flights every Tuesday and Thursday. He said the new service will provide passengers “the opportunity for direct travel with high-quality and smooth services.”
Ajil added that the expansion reflects the carrier’s broader strategy to grow its regional and international footprint and to “open wider horizons for travelers across different countries of the world.”
The route is expected to be particularly significant for religious pilgrims from Pakistan visiting the shrine cities of Najaf and Karbala. This year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage drew more than 22 million participants, including a number of pilgrims from Pakistan.
