One dead in motorcycle accident in Harir Plain

ERBIL — A man was killed and another injured Tuesday morning when a motorcycle overturned on a bridge in the Harir Plain, according to the Shaqlawa Health Directorate.

Muhammad Amokayi, the directorate’s spokesperson, said, “This morning, Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, as a result of the overturning of a motorcycle on a two-lane bridge in the Harir Plain, a body and an injured person were taken to Harir Hospital. They were the driver and passenger of the motorcycle.”

“The person who died was the driver, a 40-year-old from Rawanduz,” Amokayi said.

He added that the two were traveling from Soran toward Erbil. The injured passenger, aged 27, received treatment in Harir but was transferred to Erbil due to the severity of the injuries. The driver’s body was also sent to Erbil for forensic examination.
