Al-Hakim, Al-Amiri discuss Iran-Israel conflict, upcoming Iraq elections

BAGHDAD — Head of the National Al-Hikma Movement Ammar Al-Hakim met with Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi Al-Amiri to discuss political developments in Iraq and the region, according to a statement from Al-Hakim’s office.

During the meeting, Al-Hakim affirmed Iraq’s position alongside Iran “in its confrontation with Israeli aggression,” and urged international and Islamic organizations to work to “stop this aggression and prevent the region from sliding into a crisis that could engulf the entire world,” the statement read.

Regarding domestic politics, the two leaders discussed the significance of upcoming elections, calling them “critical and pivotal in laying the foundation for a phase of sustainable stability.” The statement emphasized the importance of competition based on “realistic electoral programs” and renewed calls for “broad, effective, and conscious participation.” Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 11, 2025.

The head of the National Al-Hikma Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, received the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Hadi Al-Amiri, where the meeting included an exchange of views on developments in the political landscape in Iraq and the region, as well as the nature of upcoming entitlements.

We affirmed Iraq’s support for the Islamic Republic of Iran in its confrontation with Israeli aggression, and called on the international community and its organizations, in addition to Islamic countries, to seriously work to stop this aggression and prevent the region from sliding into a crisis that could engulf the entire world.

We highlighted the importance of addressing the statement of the Supreme Religious Authority in its handling of the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly its explicit condemnation of the aggression, its warning of widespread chaos, its rejection of targeting religious and political leaders in Iran, and its call for a peaceful and just resolution to the Iranian nuclear issue in accordance with the principles of international law.

We also emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections, stating that they are critical and pivotal in laying the foundation for a phase of sustainable stability. We stressed the need for competition to be based on realistic electoral programs.

We reiterated the call for broad, effective, and conscious participation in the elections.
