Iraq’s foreign ministry shares emergency contacts for citizens stranded abroad

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday released a list of emergency contact numbers for its diplomatic missions abroad, aimed at providing round-the-clock assistance to Iraqi citizens facing urgent situations.

The ministry said the move is part of ongoing efforts to support Iraqis living or stranded overseas, particularly in light of recent regional instability.

“These numbers are dedicated to emergency cases, to follow up on the conditions of Iraqi citizens abroad, and to provide the necessary support at all hours,” the ministry said in a statement.

The update follows the closure of Iraqi airspace on Friday amid escalating military activity between Iran and Israel. While most airports remain closed, Basra International Airport has partially reopened for limited evacuation and return flights.

Many passengers arriving in Basra are continuing their journeys by land to other parts of the country.

The ministry urged Iraqis abroad to contact the emergency lines when facing urgent issues and said embassy staff remain on standby to provide support and coordinate logistics.
