Erbil man dies of brain infection weeks after dog bite during Eid

ERBIL — A 25-year-old man from Erbil died Sunday evening from brain damage reportedly linked to a dog bite he sustained during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, a relative told 964media.

Ramzi Abdullah, a family member of the victim, said the incident occurred in the village of Koraki Gachka in Erbil’s Kasnazan area on the first night of Eid.

“He was bitten by a dog and taken to the hospital, where they only gave him a minor treatment for the wound and sent him home,” Abdullah said.

According to the family, the man’s health began deteriorating in the days following the bite. “His condition got worse again, and he returned to the hospital,” Abdullah said. “Doctors told us his brain was infected, and it was too late. He passed away after four hours.”
