One dead, two injured in high-speed crash near Pirmam tunnel
ERBIL — A high-speed crash near the Pirmam tunnel in Erbil’s Kore subdistrict left one man dead and two others injured Monday night, according to eyewitnesses and hospital officials.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. when a taxi overturned due to excessive speed.
“Due to high speed, the car overturned,” said eyewitness Irfan Tahsin. “There were three people inside the vehicle, and after being pulled out, they were taken to Shaqlawa Emergency Hospital.”
A source at the hospital confirmed that three individuals were admitted following the crash. “One of them, an 18-year-old man, died. The other two were injured and are between 20 and 30 years old,” the source said. “After receiving initial treatment, they were transferred to hospitals in Erbil.”
The deceased was identified as Mawlud Kako. His body was buried in his home village of Gardashiri, located in the Baranati area.
