Two killed, four injured in multi-vehicle crash on Hamaweghan Road
HALABJA — Two people died and four others were injured in a five-vehicle collision early Tuesday on Hamaweghan Road, local authorities said.
“Two people lost their lives, and four others were injured,” Halabja Traffic Police spokesperson Akam Qutbaddin told 964media. Eyewitnesses and health officials said the crash occurred at around 2 a.m. The cause remains unclear, and traffic authorities have launched an investigation.
The collision involved a Toyota Camry, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Crown, Toyota pickup and Nissan Altima, all of which suffered significant damage. The bodies of the deceased were sent for forensic examination, while the injured were taken to the emergency department at Halabja Hospital.
The accident site is near government offices and residential areas. Although the road is a dual carriageway wide enough for multiple vehicles in each lane, it has been prone to severe incidents.
The victims were identified as 2001-born residents, Najmaddin Fattah and Rebin Sarwaz Jabar. Authorities said they are examining road conditions and driver conduct to determine the factors that contributed to the crash.
