Basra police arrest suspect in parents’ murder

BASRA — The Basra Police Command said Monday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of his parents in the Hayania area. Authorities confirmed that the weapon used in the crime was recovered from his possession.

In a statement, the command said, “Basra Police arrested a suspect who murdered his parents in the Hayania area during a carefully planned operation following extensive investigations.”

Police said that after receiving a report about the crime, investigation and surveillance teams gathered intelligence, pinpointed the suspect’s location, and apprehended him before he could escape. The suspect has now been referred to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
