Police arrest suspect for theft from family and homes

DIWANIYAH — Diwaniyah’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested a theft suspect Sunday after he confessed to stealing from multiple sources, including his stepfather, during interrogation.

According to a statement from the Interior Ministry, “During the investigation, he admitted to carrying out several thefts, including stealing 11 million dinars (about $7,333) from his stepfather and eight million dinars (about $5,333) from a residential house, as well as stealing mobile phones and furniture from citizens’ homes and commercial stores.”

The statement added, “His statements were legally documented, and he was referred to the competent court to receive his fair punishment.”
