Family feud in Al-Daghara turns deadly after dispute between neighbors escalates

DIWANIYA — A dispute between young neighbors in the town of Al-Daghara, north of Diwaniya, escalated Saturday evening into a violent family conflict that ended in a fatal shooting. A man in his forties was shot outside his home by the father of one of the young men involved in the altercation, a security source said.

A security source told 964media, “A fight broke out between young neighbors in Al-Daghara, which later turned into a conflict between their families.” After the initial skirmish subsided, “the father of one of the young men attacked his neighbor’s house and opened fire with a Kalashnikov rifle,” the source added.

The shooting resulted in the death of the other young man’s father, who was hit by two bullets—one in the leg and another in the lower abdomen. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
