Electrical short circuit blamed
First-floor apartment fire in Duhok contained with no casualties
DUHOK — A fire erupted Monday evening in an apartment in the Masike neighborhood of Duhok.
Mohammed Doski, an eyewitness, told 964media, “We heard a loud noise and saw black smoke and flames. We immediately contacted the firefighting department.”
Bewar Abdulaziz, spokesperson for Duhok Civil Defense, stated, “The fire occurred in an apartment on the first floor of a building. There were no casualties, and the fire has been brought under control.”
Authorities revealed that the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit, which ignited an oil barrel and led to the explosion.
