Iraqi forces discover body of young woman hidden in concrete-filled Baghdad water tank
BAGHDAD — Iraqi security forces uncovered the body of a young woman concealed inside a plastic water tank sealed with concrete and abandoned in a remote area of Baghdad, the Interior Ministry announced.
“After receiving a report about a suspicious item, a specialized task force was formed to investigate,” the ministry stated. “Our team located the water tank, which was covered in concrete, and upon further inspection, found the victim’s body inside.”
The Baghdad Crime Unit identified and apprehended the suspects following what the ministry described as “meticulous investigations and exceptional technical efforts.”
The ministry added, “The suspects confessed during interrogations to killing the young woman, placing her body in the water tank, and sealing it with concrete to obscure evidence of the crime.”
Authorities also seized the vehicle allegedly used to transport the victim’s body to the site. “This was a heinous attempt to hide their crime, but with the expertise and determination of our security and forensic teams, we were able to bring the truth to light,” the ministry emphasized.
“The suspects are now behind bars, and justice has been served,”
The statement concluded without providing additional details about the motive or the timing of the crime.
