Baghdad Operations Command arrests two as stolen car recovered in ‘record time’

BAGHDAD — The Baghdad Operations Command announced Saturday evening the arrest of two car thieves in the Al-Bu Aitha area. The suspects, who were driving a Tahoe, had allegedly stolen a vehicle.

In a statement, the Baghdad Operations Command said: “With exceptional intelligence efforts and swift action, our forces successfully apprehended two car thieves and returned the stolen vehicle to its owner in record time.”

The operation was initiated after the victim contacted the command’s hotline, reporting an armed carjacking incident involving two suspects driving a Tahoe.

A joint task force was formed, including the First Federal Police Division, Mechanized Police Units, and Rasafa Emergency Patrols.

The task force quickly set up temporary checkpoints across multiple sectors, leading to the arrest of the suspects, the recovery of the stolen vehicle, and the confiscation of their getaway car.

“This operation reaffirms our security forces’ commitment to teamwork, rapid response, and their ability to thwart the malicious intentions of organized crime groups seeking to disrupt public safety,” the statement added.
