Two fatal traffic incidents claim three lives in Akre and Bardarash

DUHOK — Two separate traffic incidents in Duhok governorate have claimed the lives of three people, including a mother, her daughter, and an 18-year-old, while two others sustained severe injuries.

The first incident occurred late Friday night on the main road connecting Bardarash to Mosul, near the village of Dubardan. A vehicle overturned, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her daughter. The driver, who is reportedly the woman’s son, was critically injured and is currently receiving medical care at Azadi Hospital in Duhok.

Nechirvan Fakhreddin, spokesperson for the Akre Health Directorate, told 964media: “The bodies of the mother and daughter were transferred to the forensic department in Akre. The driver, suffering from severe injuries, is under medical supervision at Azadi Hospital in Duhok.”

In a separate incident on Saturday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m., another traffic incident occurred in Akre district. An 18-year-old man, identified as Mansour Khalifa, lost his life after his vehicle overturned.

Fakhreddin added: “The young man was transferred to Akre Emergency Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his severe injuries.”

The body of the young man has been referred to the forensic department in Akre and will be handed over to his family following the necessary procedures.
