Driver killed after being run over by road roller in southern Baghdad
BAGHDAD — A driver was killed Friday evening after being run over by his own road roller while working on the overpass project at the Al-Zafraniya Companies Intersection in southern Baghdad, according to a security source.
The source told 964media, “The driver, operating a road roller during the night shift at the overpass construction site near Maryam Markets in Al-Zafraniya, was compacting gravel when the vehicle suddenly stopped. While attempting to repair it from underneath, the roller unexpectedly moved, running him over. Civil defense teams arrived at the scene to retrieve the body and officially document the incident.”
The ongoing construction project aims to improve traffic flow in the busy intersection area. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
