Digital safety campaign in Erbil seeks to empower women against cyber threats
ERBIL — The digital safety campaign aimed at combating gender-based violence has been ongoing for over 10 days in Erbil Governorate, benefiting hundreds of women and girls with workshops addressing violence-related issues.
The campaign, launched on November 25, is organized by the General Directorate of Social Monitoring and Development in Erbil in cooperation with the Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families.
Dlan Ismail, the campaign supervisor, told 964media that activities are not limited to Erbil city center but also extend to Soran, Koya, Shaqlawa, and Makhmour. “In just a few days, our teams have delivered 32 seminars for female students and held specialized sessions for women,” Ismail said.
The supervisor added that nearly 1,800 women and girls have benefited from the seminars so far. The campaign’s primary goal is to protect individuals from cyber threats and electronic harassment.
The Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families in Erbil also confirmed that it has conducted various activities as part of the campaign and will continue its efforts until the initiative concludes across the Kurdistan Region.
