Mosul physician found dead in Duhok apartment

DUHOK — The body of a doctor from Mosul was discovered in an apartment within the Roj City residential complex in Dohuk, authorities confirmed. The remains have been transferred to forensic medicine for further examination.

Late last night, emergency teams from Unit 122 responded to reports of an incident in the Malta neighborhood’s Roj City. “We retrieved the body from the apartment and sent it to Dohuk forensic medicine,” said a statement from the emergency unit.

Nizar Mazouri, a resident of the complex and an eyewitness, told 964media, “Late last night, there was commotion in one of the buildings. Police and emergency teams were present, and we saw them remove a body from the apartment.” He added, “The deceased appeared to have passed away several days ago. The neighbors contacted the police after noticing the situation.”

Mazouri identified the deceased as a professor and medical doctor originally from Mosul. “He lived alone in the apartment,” he noted.

A formal source confirmed the deceased’s identity as a professor and physician from Mosul and stated that preliminary investigations indicate he had been dead for several days. The police are continuing their inquiry into the cause of death.
