Tal Afar volunteers create murals to promote education and women’s role in society
TAL AFAR — A group of young volunteers in Tal Afar, western Nineveh, launched an initiative on Saturday to decorate the walls of schools with artistic murals. The project aims to highlight women’s role in society, encourage empowerment, and enhance the school’s environment with positive messages about education.
“We are a group of young women who carried out this initiative, painting artistic murals on the school walls to beautify the space,” volunteer Neda Mohammed told 964media.
She added that the group has participated in similar efforts in the city, including cleaning and tree-planting campaigns, to promote and strengthen the role of women in the community.
The murals feature human figures and motivational writings about education, using vibrant colors like green, red, yellow, and blue.
“We are a group of young men and women who implemented this initiative to encourage and motivate girls toward education and to activate their role in society,” said another volunteer, Habib Shihab.
Shihab noted that the project took place at Tal Afar Girls’ High School, expressing gratitude to local authorities, including the district administration, municipality, and education department, for their support.
