Abandoned land earmarked for public park

Darbandikhan launches cleanup campaign to restore neglected plot

DARBANDIKHAN — A cleanup and preparation campaign has started in Darbandikhan for land designated nearly 15 years ago as a public park, yet left neglected and unused.

Sleman Mohammed, the qaymaqam of Darbandikhan, told 964media, “We are committed to serving the environment of Darbandikhan, and as part of this initiative, we have launched a project to clean and prepare the land that was set aside years ago for a park but has remained abandoned.”

Mohammed added, “This land has been designated as government property for 10 to 15 years for use as a park. Unfortunately, it was neglected, and no work was done to develop it.”

He mentioned that, out of necessity, they rented shovels and cleaning equipment from the local market and have begun clearing the land themselves.

The qaymaqam further stated that, subject to the availability of necessary resources and budget, there are plans to develop this park in the future. Additional green spaces are also planned to enhance the city’s public areas, which will provide residents with much-needed recreational spaces.
