Hadi Al-Amiri blames US for alleged Israeli use of Iraqi airspace in latest Iran strike
BAGHDAD — Hadi Al-Amiri, the secretary general of the Badr Organization, has accused the United States of enabling recent violations of Iraqi airspace by Israeli aircraft during their latest strikes on Iran. In a statement released Sunday, Al-Amiri condemned the U.S. for allegedly allowing Israel to use Iraqi airspace, describing it as a breach of Iraq’s sovereignty and a destabilizing act in the region.
Israel’s attack on Iran followed a missile barrage Iran launched against Israeli targets on Oct. 1. Israeli forces reportedly targeted missile manufacturing sites and air defense installations across several regions in Iran. Although the Israeli military has not confirmed using Iraqi airspace, some reports suggest that regional airspace, including Iraq’s, may have been utilized during the operations.
Al-Amiri also reiterated calls for the complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq. In late September, the U.S. and Iraqi governments announced that the U.S.-led international coalition mission against the Islamic State group in Iraq will conclude by the end of 2025, following months of bilateral discussions.
Full statement from Al-Amiri office:
We hold the American side fully responsible for the violation of Iraqi airspace by the planes of the usurping Zionist entity and the blatant attack on the Islamic Republic.
The American side has once again proven its insistence on dominating Iraqi airspace and acting against the interests of Iraq, its people, and its sovereignty. Moreover, it seeks to serve the Zionist entity and provide it with everything it needs to carry out its aggressive methods and its threat to peace and stability in the region.
The need to end the American military presence in Iraq in all its forms has become more urgent than ever.
