Kidnapped driver freed by National Security Service on Baghdad-Kirkuk road

KIFRI — A driver kidnapped on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road was freed by a National Security Service team on Wednesday after a ransom of $200,000 was demanded by the kidnappers.

A security source told 964media that the victim, a resident of Kifri district driving a Yukon vehicle, was abducted between the Al-Khalis district and the Al-Azim subdistrict, north of Diyala. The National Security Service quickly launched an investigation, tracking the kidnappers and monitoring their communication with the victim’s family.

After several hours, the security team identified and arrested all suspects involved in the abduction across multiple locations in Diyala province. The driver was freed and safely returned to his family.

“Details and the location of the arrests have not been disclosed by the National Security Service to maintain the confidentiality of the investigation,” the source added. Legal actions have been taken against the kidnappers.
