Iraq’s PM meets Saudi foreign minister in Baghdad

BAGHDAD – Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani held talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Baghdad on Thursday, focusing on enhancing bilateral ties. The discussions covered political and economic cooperation, as well as the development of partnerships between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Both leaders also addressed regional issues, including the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

A statement from Iraq’s prime minister  media office read:

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

The meeting focused on the bilateral relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and explored prospects for further development in various fields, particularly in political and economic cooperation, as well as strengthening fruitful partnerships. The discussion also included the activation of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council to achieve mutual benefits and shared interests for both brotherly nations.

The two officials reviewed key developments in the region, including the ongoing aggression in Gaza. They emphasized the importance of continued joint efforts and coordination of Arab and international actions to halt the aggression. The Prime Minister urged the international community to fully assume its responsibilities in preventing the ongoing genocide that has been inflicted on the Palestinian people for over ten months, affirming their historical right to live on their land.
