"Further assistance planned"
Germany delivers medical supplies to Peshmerga
SULAYMANIYAH – The German government delivered military backpacks filled with first-aid necessities to the General Directorate of Military Logistics of the Ministry of Peshmerga on Thursday.
The handover ceremony was attended by Major General Hoshmand Haider Rashid, Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Logistics, Brigadier General Farman Zarrari, Deputy Director of Military Logistics, Dr. Raza Sinyar, Director of Medical Affairs, and Colonel Lars Persikowsk, Commander of the German Forces in the Kurdistan Region.
“Germany has been a steadfast partner since the beginning of the war against ISIS,” said Major General Rashid. “Their contributions have been vital in developing our medical infrastructure, including the construction of the Peshmerga hospital and assistance to our military units.”
Colonel Persikowsk highlighted the enduring relationship between the German Army and the Ministry of Peshmerga.
“Today’s cooperation signifies the strong bond between our forces,” he said. “This is a positive step in fulfilling our promises to the Ministry of Peshmerga and in building the Peshmerga forces.”
Persikowsk also noted that further assistance is planned for the Ministry of Peshmerga in the coming year as part of the 2024 plan.
This delivery follows an early August U.S. shipment of Howitzer artillery to the Peshmerga, aimed at enhancing their military capabilities.
