Fire ravages an estimated 49 acres of land in Sulaymaniyah’s Goizha Mount
SULAYMANIYAH– A large fire broke out on Monday morning in Sulaymaniyah’s Goizha Mount, burning approximately 200 donums (49 acres) of grassland and forests as per the initial assessments.
Aram Ali, a spokesman for the Sulaymaniyah Civil Defense, told 964media, “We were notified of the fire at 3:05 AM. Our teams quickly reached the scene and extinguished the fire by 5:06 AM.”
Although the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still undetermined, the Civil Defense spokesperson indicated that most of the burned area consisted of grassland and a number of pine trees.
Ali mentioned that investigations into the cause of the fire have already started.
Goizha Mountain is located within Sulaymaniyah city and extends across the area, attracting a large number of visitors due to its scenic nature.
